Let's Rock 2007
If anyone out there is still reading this message board...stay tuned for updates about the MLC's Let's Rock (rock band day camp) program coming this summer. Last year was a huge success, with our final concert drawing over 150 people to the final show!
This will be our third year running, and we want to keep the word out. If you are a parent of a Let's Rock student or have participated in the program in the past, drop me a line so we can keep in touch.

Day of Silence

Day of Silence is next Wednesday, April 26th. See Jim for materials (i.e. stickers and cards so you don't have to mime to explain what you're doing); his office is next to Claire's room above the main office.

This announcement has been brought to you by the letter gamma and the number i.

Face Book

This is the highschool version of Facebook, which is kind of like a site for people from different schools to meet. I'm currently the only MLC student. :(

Please comment here with your email address if you would like an invite.

Since you're all too damn lazy to say anything about it, I'LL handle it.

The date that school starts for High Schoolers is SEPTEMBER THE 12TH, as opposed to SEPTEMBER THE 7TH, when all the other grades are starting and when we were supposed to start. Again, organization is not one of MLC's strong suits.

But just so this entry isn't 100% info, let's take a poll: amongst you guys, who wants school to start? Who doesn't? Who doesn't care?

I want it to start. Summer's boring. I can only replay Final Fantasy 7 so many times.

From the unspeakably lazy young__aspiring:

"I somehow found myself at the school today, where I talked with Kathleen in the front office.
The only thing being mailed out is a notice stating this to you. It is apprently your responsibility to go to the school, and grab one for yourself.
I have four extra copies for people I'll be seeing in the near future. For those of you I won't be seeing soon... sorry, but... you're fucked.
That is all. "

Hurry up and reserve your classes.

[ADMIN] The rickfromfoo accounts
I have just posted the following message in the most recent rickfromfoo post:

Rick (whichever(s) you are, or whoever you are):

Next time a message like this is posted, from *any* account whatsoever that hasn't already proven itself *not to be you*, *all* of the accounts that have been posting such things here will be banned, and you will be persona non grata in this community. I will take any further new accounts of this nature joining this community as an attempt to circumvent that ban, and will report you to lj abuse as such. I know all of the people you have mentioned so far, and am perfectly willing to try to tell you all apart offline if you want to try to prove your innocence or their guilt or whatever, but I am not dealing with this any more here.

Any further discussions about this should take place by emailing me at mlcpdx_admin at my domain, which is algeh.com. Put [MLCPDX] at the start of your message so I know it is not spam.

So, the upshot is, I'm sorry he's been bugging y'all, and it ends now or I'm bringing the abuse team in. If this is a case of account break-ins and people impersonating each other, that's where it belongs anyway, and if it's not then it's an inappropriate attention-grab, and this community is not the place for that, and someone evading a ban by making new accounts is also in their purview.

I now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Oh, and if anyone knows of an alternative school anywhere in Oregon that's looking for a math and/or language arts teacher in fall of '06, feel free to pass that on to me. I should be certified this spring.

Edited to add:

He deleted my admin post to his most recent comment. He and/or they are going away now, and the posts will be reported to the abuse team for containing full names. Any further accounts along these lines made will be reported to the abuse team unless he gets in touch with me outside of LJ and I come to a different conclusion.

There are two events happening this week that you guys should all think about attending:

THURSDAY: There is going to be a walkout at Jefferson High School against the massive cuts they are taking and against the declining education in general. This is not a coordinated city-wide walkout and please only spread this information by word of mouth, as the consequences for the students involved can be heavy. If you can make it this thursday, at about 12:20 at Jefferson, that'd be great.

FRIDAY: The theme of the PPRC friday peace rally downtown is going to be money for jobs, healthcare & education not war & occupation. It's most likely going to be sponsored by the group Students for Peace & Justice and if you can make it, 5pm in pioneer square that would be awesome.

comment if you have questions or anything and I will also be at MLC in an econ class on Thursday, you can talk to me then.
